D&B provided engineering services for the design and construction of a new 1,400 gpm well and the associated facilities to replace an existing well which was failing. A new well house was constructed to house the well pump, piping, valves, electrical, controls and chemical feed equipment. The well discharge was connected to the existing packed tower aeration system on the site. Separate contracts were prepared for the construction of the new well and for the construction of the support facilities.
Chemical facilities included a new aboveground sodium hypochlorite tank in a secondary containment dike and a new 2,500 gallon double wall underground sodium hydroxide storage tank.
D&B prepared the preliminary design report, contract drawings and contract specifications for this project. D&B provided construction management and inspection services during the construction. D&B assisted the District in obtaining approvals from the Nassau County Department of Health (NCDH) and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
