D&B provided engineering services for the design and construction of the rehabilitation of a 500 gpm well and the associate facilities at the Village of Sands Point Well 4 Station. A screen liner was installed inside of an existing screen liner to bring the well back into service. A new well house was constructed in place of the below grade vault and the well was extended above grade.
New sodium hypochlorite storage and injection equipment was installed in the new well house. A new standby diesel generator in a weatherproof enclosure was installed on the site to provide sufficient power for Well 4, another well on the same site and the combined treatment facility. A new electric service, switchgear and automatic transfer switch was installed.
D&B prepared the preliminary design report, contract drawings and contract specifications for this project. D&B provided assistance during the bidding phase. Construction phase services included site inspection as well as project administration. D&B assisted the Village in obtaining approvals from the Nassau County Department of Health (NCDH) and Nassau County Fire Marshal.
