D&B provided engineering services for the rehabilitation, repair and painting of a 1.5 million Gallon Water Storage Tank for the Village of Williston Park, New York.
The project included modifications to the main access hatch, vents and new handrails on the tank roof to comply with OSHA requirements. Significant modification was made to the interior of the steel reservior to weld a new steel floor over the existing due to servere corrosion and pitting problems. The tank received a new cathodic protection system and an upgraded controls panel.
A full blast of the interior was perfromed prior to the application of an one hundred percent solids coating system on the interior. This was performed to ensure compliance with the stringent requirements of the New York State Department of Health.
A similar blast profile was undertaken on the exterior with the use of a vacuum blast robot system, therefore not requiring full containment around the tank. A three part zinc, epoxy, urethane coating system was applied to the tank surface.
D&B provided, design engineering services on the tank rehabilitation and new floor as well as full daily inspection during welding and painting operations. D&B coordinated office engineering services during construction handling various design changes.
