D&B provided engineering services for repairs and painting of the 750,000 gallon Elevated Water Storage Tank on Astor Avenue in St. James, New York. The project included modifications to the support systems for the existing cellular carriers as well as coordination of the repair work with each carrier. Structural repairs were made to the balcony to support future cellular carrier’s antennas and cables along with any necessary modifications to comply with the requirements of OSHA.
A full blast was performed for the surface preparation of the exterior surface. The interior was surface washed and inspected prior to a touch-up application coat of an one hundred percent solids coating system. This was done in order to ensure compliance with the stringent requirements of the New York State Department of Health for VOC’s. A three coat system was applied to the exterior of the tank.
D&B provided engineering services during construction including part-time inspection during metal work, surface preparation and coating application as well as office engineering services.
