D&B provided engineering services for repairs and painting of the 1,000,000 gallon Elevated Water Storage Tank on Pleasant Avenue in Centereach, New York. The project included modifications to the support systems for the existing cellular carriers as well as coordination of the repair work with each carrier. Significant modifications were required on the balcony to provide adequate support for the large number of cables and antennas mounted on the handrail. Structural repairs were made along with any necessary modifications to comply with the requirements of OSHA.
A full blast was performed for the surface preparation of the interior and exterior surfaces. A one hundred percent solids coating system was used on the interior in order to ensure compliance with the stringent requirements of the New York State Department of Health for VOC’s. A three coat system was applied to the exterior of the tank.
D&B provided engineering services during construction including part-time inspection during welding, surface preparation and coating application as well as office engineering services.
