D&B Brings Holiday Joy To Many Children

Posted on February 11, 2015

The Village of Greenport supports a very active After School Program. The program is available to children between the ages of six and twelve years old. The children are transported from school directly to the Mary H. Smith Recreation Center, and parents pick them up at the center. The purpose of the program is to offer a structured setting in safe and nurturing environment. At the end of the year, the After School Program sponsors Annual Holiday Party where each child is given a gift.

D&B has been retained by the Village to provide engineering services for a number of years. Dennis Koehler, Vice President, Wastewater Collection and Treatment Division, found out that the After School Program was having funding problems. Through Dennis’s intervention, D&B made a generous donation to the Greenport After School Program’s holiday gift fund. Dennis received a Letter of Appreciation from Catherine Matthews, Director of the After School Program, thanking Dennis for D&B’s donation which allowed each child to enjoy the party and receive a holiday gift.

D&B has always encouraged employees to be involved in the communities where they live and work. The involvement does not have to be financial. Volunteering one’s time and talent to improve the quality of life within communities is a very worthwhile activity. Many D&Ber’s already perform these acts of service. As part of D&B’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, the firm would like to recognize and commend those who perform these acts of service.
