Earlier this year, after a massive earthquake devastated Haiti, D&B was asked to aid in a relief effort for the children of the island. The request came through Maria Wright, whose mother has volunteered in recent years at a children’s home for malnourished babies which is run by the Missionaries of Charity in Port Au Prince, Haiti. The objective of the relief effort was to send liquid baby formula to the malnourished babies impacted by the earthquake. Due to the lack of clean water, there was a dire need for pre-mixed, liquid formula in lieu of the powdered formula. D&B responded in a generous way both financially and also by contributing bottles of baby formula. The result of the relief effort, which included the D&B contributions, allowed Maria’s mother to work with Sister Beatrice Barry, a Sister of St. Joseph, to purchase and send 700 bottles of baby formula to St. Damians Hospital in Port Au Prince. The picture shows State Senator, Honorable Carl Marcellino presenting a medal recognizing Maria’s mother, Marie Dioguardi, for her wonderful charitable and humanitarian contributions.
Congratulations to Mrs. Dioguardi and thank you to all the D&B employees who helped make this relief effort a success.
