D&B Mitigates Flooding in Westchester Co.

Posted on February 8, 2013

Mitigate-Westchester-FloodingD&B is putting shovels in the ground to help mitigate flooding in the Village of Scarsdale, New York. Based on a design assignment completed by D&B as part of Westchester County’s Flood Mitigation Program, the Village is nearing completion of the construction of two dry detention ponds providing up to 13 acre-feet of stormwater storage capacity. The dry detention ponds are designed to reduce peak run-off flows by up to 30% in the Bronx River watershed. The project also includes a 3,000 square foot rain garden (pictured above) and a 1 acre constructed wetland. “Congratulations” to Rob DeGiorgio and the White Plains office engineering and architectural staff on a “job well-done!”
