D&B Engineers and Architects, P.C. provided Engineering Design and Permitting Services to New York American Water to improve two existing water transmission mains in the Lynbrook Operational District. One location was along Hempstead Avenue, transiting the Village’s commercial District, and required an existing 8-inch water main to be replaced by 12-inch piping for about 5,940 linear feet. The new piping included crossing a LIRR right-of-way through the use of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) techniques. The second site ran along Woodmere Blvd. and required the replacement of 6-inch and 8-inch piping in several locations amounting to a combined length of 4,600 linear feet. NYAW published a Press Release on completion of the project about the complexities of the job. Congratulations to the water supply group for their outstanding efforts on this project.
