On Tuesday evening, July 27th, D&B participated in the ninth annual Marcum Corporate Challenge. This event brings together over 10,000 participants and over 200 local Long Island companies to support three very wonderful charities. They are The Long Island Children’s Museum, the Harry Chapin Food Bank and the Children’s Medical Fund of New York affiliated with Long Island Jewish/North Shore University Hospitals.
The Marcum Workplace Challenge is a 3.5 mile run/walk race held at Jones Beach State Park. It is open to all businesses, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations and their families and friends. It’s also referred to “as Long Island’s largest participatory sporting event and office picnic”.
Once again, D&B participated in the event. This year, D&B was represented by a record number of 40 run/walkers. The D&B runners also entered a team in both the men’s competition and the women’s competition. They both performed extremely well. The men’s team finished in 11th place out of 94 teams and the women’s team finished in 21st place out of 83 women’s teams. After the race, everyone was treated to an outstanding buffet catered by Sebastianos. The menu included gourmet wraps, pasta salad, potato salad, bbq chicken wings and rice balls. Dessert was a refreshing fruit salad. Also, appropriate beverages were available so everyone could properly hydrate after completing the 3.5 miles. Everyone had a great time. A special thank you to Kelly Pedone for organizing D&B’s participation in the Corporate Challenge.
