Special Inspections

The New York City Department of Building (DOB) Code requires special inspections for certain materials, operations and equipment during the construction phase of a project to verify that work is in compliance with code requirements and is in accordance with approved plans and specifications.

D&B is a Registered Special Inspection Agency and provides Special Inspection services by identifying project needs and properly staffing jobs with certified personnel to perform the necessary inspections.

Special Inspections must be performed by Special Inspectors on behalf of a Special Inspection Agency. D&B team members have or are being trained for special inspections certifications. Our proactive approach identifies, enhances and tracks the relevant credentials of its field personnel.

Examples of items requiring Special Inspection include:

  • Flood Zone Compliance
  • Emergency and Standby Power Systems
  • Structural Steel
  • Concrete
  • Masonry
  • Wood
  • Subgrade Inspection
  • Underpinning
  • Mechanical Systems
  • Excavations
  • Sprinkler Systems
  • Chimneys
