D&B provides comprehensive start-up/testing services during a project’s construction phase, including:
- Operator training.
- Evaluation of testing procedures.
- Evaluation of streamlining operations.
- Preparation of operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals.
Our experienced team of engineers collaborates with clients/agencies to develop overall sequencing schedules and to define significant start-up/testing activities to ensure maintenance of required facility operations.
D&B anticipates and analyzes problems, and develops applicable solutions to minimize overall impact on plant personnel and performance. A draft document is prepared for review by the Project Manager, with sufficient time to allow for finalization and usage during start-up and testing. The comprehensive start-up/testing plan includes step-by-step descriptions of the commissioning of the entire facility including the equipment, systems and processes.
The start-up/testing procedures for each type of equipment or system are organized in a manner specific to each particular site. Start-up/testing is generally phased in order to continue operations throughout construction, making our start-up/testing engineer(s) fully available for troubleshooting, debugging, cost-effective process optimization, and general start-up supervision.
The start-up and testing team’s familiarity with system operations and SOPs is invaluable in streamlining the entire commissioning process. Upon completion of start-up and testing, we prepare an evaluation of the new equipment to confirm that it meets design intent and criteria. Evaluation results are included in an Operability Report, which includes a section on problems and corrective measures if the improvements do not appear to be operating as originally planned.
