D&B has handled numerous advanced treatment plants, including multimedia and sand filters for enhanced solids removal, nitrification to reduce organic loading on the stream, and denitrification and phosphate removal for nutrient control.
D&B is well-versed in the usage of chlorine and sodium hypochlorite for disinfection. Modification of existing facilities to incorporate utilization of liquid sodium hypochlorite for safety considerations is a specialty of the firm. In instances where the receiving stream is not permitted to receive chlorinated discharges, dechlorination by using alternative disinfection systems such as sodium dioxide or ultraviolet disinfection can be economically evaluated and designed.
The improvement of the effluent quality, while keeping operation and maintenance (O&M) costs/rates relatively constant, is always a challenge. D&B conducts facility reviews as a basis for recommendations for a program of continuous improvement including reducing overall operation and maintenance costs whenever possible.
