D&B provides comprehensive services for the installation of Iron and Manganese Removal Systems for water supply wells.
Water supply wells located along Long Island’s shores often contain iron and manganese concentrations that exceed allowable limits. Though primarily an aesthetic issue, treatment for customer satisfaction is warranted.
One of the most common challenges, disposal of backwash wastewater, is compounded in areas without municipal sanitary sewer systems. Also, where local sanitary wastewater treatment facilities are relatively small, iron backwash waste can disrupt the treatment process.
D&B’s extensive experience with design and implementation of alternative systems includes backwash equalization tanks which settle iron sludge and recycle up to 80 percent of the supernatant back to the head of the treatment process, on-site backwash settling basins and iron sludge thickening equipment.
