Port Washington Water District - Nitrate Treatment

Nitrate Removal Systems

D&B provides complete services for the installation of Nitrate Treatment Systems for the removal of nitrates from water supply wells. Ion exchange resin that can be regenerated using a brine solution formulated on site is a dependable solution.

Our extensive experience with the design and implementation of alternative systems effectively addresses associated challenges, including disposal of regenerator brine wastewater. High in chlorides, wastewater may also contain sulfates, which can form hydrogen sulfides. Hydrogen sulfide and brine are extremely corrosive to municipal sewer systems, and where local sanitary wastewater treatment facilities are relatively small, the overall treatment process can be substantially disrupted.

This problem is compounded in areas that do not have a municipal sanitary sewer system suitable to receive the wastewater. In these cases, the wastewater can be stored and trucked to an off-site wastewater treatment facility.
