D&B Engineers and Architects Celebrates Completion of Westbury Water District’s New Headquarters and Advanced Water Treatment Facility

D&B Engineers and Architects proudly celebrated the completion of the Westbury Water District’s new headquarters and advanced water treatment facility at Wells 6 & 7A, a landmark infrastructure project that enhances water quality, system resiliency, and long-term reliability for the Westbury community. The facility was officially unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 17, 2026, attended by federal, state, county and local elected officials, fellow Long Island water providers, engineering and construction partners, and members of the community. 

As Engineer of Record, D&B provided planning, design, and engineering services for the nearly $19 million Drexel Avenue project, one of the signature initiatives within the Westbury Water District’s five-year, $65 million Capital Improvement Campaign. The project was supported by a $7.389 million grant from the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation, helping advance critical infrastructure improvements while reducing costs for District ratepayers.

The new facility represents one of Long Island’s most advanced groundwater treatment systems, incorporating multiple treatment barriers to address today’s evolving water quality challenges. The facility combines Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP), Packed Tower Aeration (PTA), and Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) technologies to remove emerging contaminants, including 1,4-dioxane, PFAS, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), ensuring compliance with stringent New York State and federal drinking water regulations.

In addition to housing the District’s administrative offices, the new headquarters serves as a modern operational hub that supports the District’s mission of delivering safe, reliable drinking water to more than 6,000 residential and commercial customers.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests toured the new treatment facility and learned how its innovative treatment processes work together to remove contaminants and strengthen the District’s water system.

The successful completion of the project reflects the collaborative efforts of the Westbury Water District, D&B Engineers and Architects, construction partners, funding agencies, and numerous stakeholders committed to protecting Long Island’s drinking water resources through thoughtful planning, innovative engineering, and strategic investment.
