D&B President Steven A. Fangmann, P.E., BCEE wrote in the article, “Many positive forces are in play that indicate the engineering and architecture industry will have a backlog of work in the foreseeable future. Negative forces like COVID and inflation have tended to reduce some of the positive momentum that has been building up. Yet having worked in Civil / Environmental engineering for close to 50 years, it is easy to see with 20/20 hindsight that the environment, including climate change and natural disasters, takes a backseat to the economy when disasters disappear for a few years and inflation picks up. One example is the Clean Water Act of 1972 (CWA), which has had significant effects throughout my career.”
