The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACECNY), the largest national organization of engineers engaged in the practice of consulting engineering, has recognized D&B Engineers and Architects with its prestigious 2024 ACEC New York Engineering Excellence Awards, EEA Diamond Award in the Waste and Storm Water Category for the project ‘Clean Water for Carlls River’.
The Engineering Excellence Awards are presented annually to public and private sector projects which are reviewed by a panel of highly qualified industry experts. All project submissions are judged on rigorous criteria that include project complexity, innovation and value to society. Awards are distributed based on averaging judges’ scores and winners are assigned one of four levels with the Diamond Award being highest ranked of all.
D&B President & CEO Steven A. Fangmann, P.E. BCEE, commented, “to have our ‘Clean Water for Carlls River’ project receive a Diamond award as the top project in its category is a testimony to the vision, skills and dedication of the individuals composing the D&B team, as well as recognition of their ability to successfully manage a complex private/public project. Through the consummate professionalism of team leaders Robert Raab, Adriana Restrepo and Chris Koegel, thousands of residents in Long Island’s Nassau and Suffolk Counties will reap the benefits of clean sewering for generations to come.
I believe that the project’s ecologic value to society is incalculable, and that only time will reveal the true magnitude through dramatically improved environmental results. I am extremely pleased and proud of the contributions of the members of the D&B team in changing the way we live for the betterment of all.”
D&B Vice President Robert L. Raab, P.E., CCM, BCEE added , “considering the high level of competition and the credentials of the judges, I am especially grateful to win the Diamond Award in recognition of the ‘Clean Water for Carlls River’ project.”
The Diamond Award winner ‘Clean Water for Carlls River’ project was designed and built entirely within New York State. As a result, the project will be entered in the competition for the ACECNY Empire Award, which will be announced during the 57th Annual ACEC NY Gala in Manhattan in April, 2024.
