Incorporated Village of Williston Park Syracuse Street Elevated Water Storage Tank Replacement
D&B was retained to provide professional engineering services for the replacement of the 500,000-gallon Syracuse Street elevated water storage tank. The scope of work includes the demolition and removal of the existing elevated water storage tank and foundations; construction of the replacement elevated water storage tank and associated piping and appurtenances; and a variety of equipment removals, upgrades, and installations to achieve chemical and metering compliance.
D&B first prepared and submitted a Basis of Design Report (BODR) to the Nassau County Department of Health (NCDH) and prepared a State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) Environmental Assessment Form. A topographical survey of the site was then performed, and soil borings were collected for geotechnical analysis. After the survey and geotechnical analysis, D&B progressed to the design phase and submitted completed contract documents to the Village and NCDH for approval. Once approved, D&B assisted the client in soliciting bids and procuring qualified contractors to perform the work.
D&B was also responsible for construction services, including ensuring environmental compliance when demolishing and removing the tank, design services during construction, and coordination with the NCDH for disinfection, testing, and approval to return the tank to service. Inspection services were provided during surface preparation and painting operations, as well as during site work and related activities.
