MTA Design-Build Services Upgrade to Auto Fuel Systems at Brewster & Harmon Yard Fuel Stations
D&B teamed with Aventura Construction Corp. to provide Design-Build services to the MTA for the Metro-North Railroad (MNR) vehicle fleet fueling facilities located at two separate maintenance facilities, Brewster Yard (Brewster) and Harmon Yard (Harmon). Each facility consists of Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) – one each for diesel and gasoline – as well as commercial-type delivery systems, including fuel pump islands, canopy structures and below grade piping at each dispenser. These facilities, along with the existing USTs, were reaching the end of their useful life, and needed to be upgraded to current commercial, industry and regulatory standards.
This Project provides one (1) new, state-of-the-art, operational vehicle fleet fueling facility to replace the existing USTs and fueling systems at each of the two (2) separate train yard locations. The Project also requires the decommissioning, demolition, and disposal of the existing fueling facilities/systems, USTs, piping, dispensers, pads, and canopies, including services for the remediation, restoration, and improvement of each site.
The New Brewster Vehicle Fleet Fueling Facility will include the following:
- One (1) pre-engineered 6,000-gallon, above-ground rectangular double-walled unleaded gasoline compatible storage tank including all required piping, vents, fittings, gauges, valves, gaskets, seals, sealants, card readers and all other ancillary items necessary for a fully functional fueling system.
- One (1) pre-engineered 3,000-gallon above-ground rectangular double-walled diesel compatible storage tank including all required piping, vents, fittings, gauges, valves, gaskets, seals, sealants, card readers and all other ancillary items necessary for a fully functional fueling system.
- One (1) 660-gallon above-ground diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) double-walled plastic tank dispensers and air compressors to facilitate proper vehicle maintenance by operators.
- One (1) new emergency generator to provide backup power to the fueling station.
The New Harmon Vehicle Fleet Fueling Facility will include the following:
- One (1) pre-engineered 12,000-gallon, above-ground rectangular double-walled unleaded gasoline compatible storage tank including all required piping, vents, fittings, gauges, valves, gaskets, seals, sealants, card readers and all other ancillary items necessary for a fully functional fueling system.
- One (1) pre-engineered 8,000-gallon above-ground rectangular double-walled diesel compatible storage tank including all required piping, vents, fittings, gauges, valves, gaskets, seals, sealants, card readers and all other ancillary items necessary for a fully functional fueling system.
- One (1) 660-gallon above-ground diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) double-walled plastic tank dispensers and air compressors to facilitate proper vehicle maintenance by operators.
- One (1) new emergency generator to provide backup power to the fueling station.
