Combined Heat and Power (CHP)
With nearly two-thirds of the energy used to generate electricity wasted in the form of heat discharged to the atmosphere, D&B provides clients with combined heat and power solutions that harvest this otherwise wasted heat to provide useful thermal energy for can be used for domestic and industrial processes. From a few kilowatts to several megawatts, we have applied our expertise to help water and wastewater treatment plants, schools, hospitals, residential and commercial buildings, and industrial plants derive substantially lower their operating budgets through CHP plant installation.
Renewable Energy
The implementation and advancement of renewable energy is integral to reducing the demands we put on our planet’s resources. D&B provides professional engineering design and consulting services that harvest solar, wind, water and geothermal energies to help our clients meet government mandates and reap the financial benefits associated with the implementation of renewable energy sources.
Alternative Energy Services
Alternative energy sources like natural gas provide several benefits over the traditional means of deriving energy through diesel, gasoline and coal. D&B offers a suite of design, life-cycle cost analysis, permitting, grant writing and construction management services to develop integrated facilities that offer lower emissions, substantial cost savings and supply reliability.
Distributed Generation (DG)
Distributed generation, also known as co-generation when synchronized with the utility, can provide substantial benefits to a facility and its owner. D&B designs these facilities based on site-specific needs, schedules, regulations, codes and standards to lower the cost of power production, significantly reduce demand charges, increase reliability, and serve as a standby power source to public utilities that results in additional compensation.
Microgrids
Microgrids, in many respects, are scaled down versions of standard electrical grids with the added benefit of multiple generating sources, such as renewable technologies, and the ability to operate independently of the primary utility grid. From the initial feasibility studies through construction completion, D&B can provide clients with the range of services necessary to evaluate and integrate efficient solutions that significantly increase overall electricity distribution efficiency, generate income for the community by selling electricity back to local utilities, and can disconnect from the regional grid during power outages to provide continuous power to residents and critical infrastructure.
