WAGNN Community Drive Packed Tower Aeration System
The new 6.0 MGD water treatment facility includes treatment for the removal of volatile organic compounds, including two independent trains of packed tower aeration, each capable of treating 4.0 MGD, constructed upstream of four 20,000-pound granular activated carbon filter vessels. The unique arrangement of the treatment equipment allows for a variety of operational combinations of wells, packed tower aeration system components and carbon vessels to be utilized in the event of mechanical failure or maintenance needs on treatment system components. The water is treated with sodium hydroxide to raise the pH, sodium hypochlorite for disinfection and polyorthophosphate for corrosion control.
